HCPS bus drivers not only ensure that students stay safe on Henrico roads, they’re often the first staff members to welcome students to the new school day and to bid them goodbye in the afternoon. Drivers serve as an important link between schools and families. They offer students a sympathetic ear, a kind word or a smile. In the words of driver Joyce Smith, who started with HCPS in 1983, the students “become my family.”
